Cabo de Palos is probably the best example of the importance of creating and preserving marine protected areas, contributing to the enrichment of marine biodiversity by using traditional fishing methods. In this documentary, we delve into the management of the Cabo de Palos – Hormigas Islands Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest, thanks to the collaboration of key stakeholders in its study and conservation—both fishermen and divers.
Director Biography – Javier Ferrer Martínez, Jose Antonio García García
Francisco Javier Ferrer Martínez is a photographer and filmmaker specialized in underwater imagery, with a solid career documenting marine ecosystems in the Mediterranean and beyond. As director of several audiovisual projects focused on ocean conservation, he has collaborated with organizations such as WWF, ANSE, and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography. His work blends technical precision with a deep environmental sensitivity, offering a visual and emotional journey through the beauty and fragility of the underwater world. At this edition of the Lisbon Underwater Film Festival, he invites us to dive into the ocean’s hidden wonders.
